What makes a great movie? Action, adventure, humor, special effects and of course, an all around good story. Yet one thing that usually goes unnoticed in a great movie is its soundtrack.
For nearly 50 years, John Williams has composed soundtracks for countless classic movies. Many times the songs are just as popular as the movies themselves. He holds the record for most Oscar nominations at 45.
I have compiled a handful of my favorite pieces by him. With the exception of 2 songs ('Memoirs of a Geisha' and 'Schindler's List') all of these should be familiar to you.

Where would he be without Dvorak, Holst, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky etc etc.
Despite my musical snobbery, I heart John Williams.

Speaking of Schindler's List, Mel Gibson's latest Movie, Apacalypto, is actually just Schindler's List, played backwards.
Nice post.
