I'd actually prefer it in November. Seems rushed to have it first thing in October. No time for turkey or anything.

Interestingly enough, it's not just Canadians. The Thanksgiving we celebrate is actually more rooted in European history and religion, while American Thanksgiving is actually rooted in their history (pilgrims landing and whatnot). The Europeans celebrated a harvest festival (with major religious overtures) at about the same time that Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving. While I can't speak with any authority on whether this is still celebrated, it would suggest that (at least in the past) a larger pool of people than just Canadians could make this claim.
Although you were right, and I am having a little bit of fun with the Canadian angle.
