I didn't know Lisa gave +2s...
this can only mean that she is in love with me. finally, my feelings for her are no longer unrequited.
Thorns: you're talking about a holiday weekend. try blowing by Spfld on Labor Day weekend. it's fucking horrific then. roadblocks left and right. rolling up on one of those right after you smoiked a joint is fun.
But, yeah, you do have to slow down around Spfld. I don't take that into my account because I'm leaving from here. Going north you have to slow at Bloomington, same thing as going south. once i'm past Pontiac i disregard the speed limit altogether slow down only when something solid and bigger than me is in the way. when i see the Will County sign i put on a crash helmet, do that little cross your chest thing that Catholics do, turn the stereo up all the way, and mash the gas pedal to the floor.
i'm not even Catholic

Thorns: i drive like a bat out of hell. what route do you take? 29 to 55? just watch out around that litchfield exit, because po-po always sits right there, and you can barrel down 55 at about 90 mph. that's nothing though, 74 between Bloomington and Champaign is virtually cop free at all times. once running late this election season i happened to come across a cop on that stretch, doing 95, and he didn't even look twice. there is basically no speed limit through there. same thing between Champaign and Danville.
======================
You've GOT to be fucking kidding me...I saw no less than ten squad cars between the Springfield city limits on the day before Thanksgiving, and half of them were busting handing out tickets as I drove by...the others were lined up on the ramps just WAITING to catch someone. Plus there's the prick on the chopper that stands in the median just about four miles past the state police academy and likes to pick off all the people that *thought* they were okay to start speeding again after going past Stevenson exit.
The days before and after holidays are brutal around Springfield for speeders, no? Makes Peoria look like the Autobahn.
But, come think of it, yeah, once I'm past mile marker 84 on 55 southbound, it's pretty much po-free up until Litchfield, as you say. My usual route though? Local roads to 155 to 55.
Have you been up here in P-Town since they've finished the I-74 rework project (just about, anyway)? It's niiiiiice....especially the downtown interchanges. Come up sometime for a brewskie.

The nicest thing about living in Springfield, Illinois? Chicago is only a 2.5 hour drive away.
The second best? St. Louis is only a little over an hour away.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeezum crow, it only takes you an hour to get to St. Louis from Springfield? How fast are you driving, bro? Always takes me at least an hour and a half...

you're wrong.

It's also Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana, Missouri and a few other states as well. But yeah, Iowa is the worst of the bunch.
I live in a town of about 115K, so it's not all that horrid, but still...
