Don't look at me cross-eyed because
I ain't doing what I love and expecting for money to follow me

I got bills and kids, man.
I can't be a full time artist
Right now
But I do expect to be a full time artist
Soon and very soon

I played Jazz
I dropped the Hip Hop
Those things ain't pay all that much

So a brother got a degree and a
Downtown job
I photocopied
I worked with computers
I sit at a desk from 9 to 5
Just for the money

Try to move up and guess what
Interviewing bosses get mad
Because I'm fool enough to say that I want the new job
Just for the money

Hey, don't look at me cross-eyed

Because I work just for the money

I don't see you giving back your inheritance.
