What's up fuckers?

I am doing a paper and was just wodering if these were interesting enough points to be made, and if it proves my point of instances that Aspirin is one of the best drugs on the market.

It is not the finished article, But You should be able to get an Idea.

Any help would be cool.

1.Aspirin, or acetylsalicylic acid has a long history of helping humans deal with pain and

fever dating back to 300 B.C. with the first account by Hippocrates who wrote about the

then "White powdery substance" from the bark of a willow tree which helped relieve

aches and pains.

Although back then it was just as harmful as it was helpful. Until 1897, when the German

research assistant named Felix Hoffman combined one of the active ingredients in

salicylic acid with an acetyl group which was far less lethal and reduced the negative

affects. It produced acetylsalicylic acid what we today call aspirin. When taken, the

aspirin is broken down in the body by hydrolyzation to introduce the drug into the blood

stream.

Hoffman tested the formula out on his father which had arthritis and could not deal with

the side effects of the prior rudimentary form. The new "aspirin" worked like a charm.

Which Hoffman convinced Bayer to market the new product which happened to be the

first synthetic drug not copied from something in nature. Although there have been other

claims of who had invented the drug first. It is not so much about who made it, but what

uses does aspirin have, which are many.

Some of the uses of aspirin helps in the aid of pain relief, fever reducer, headache

reliever, blood thinner, rheumatic fever, heart disease, Kawasaki disease, Pericarditis,

osteoid osteoma, strokes and more which is what this paper is based on. With all the uses,

it is no doubt that aspirin is definitely a "wonder drug".

2. In March 2005 the National Institute of Neurological disorders and stroke (NINDS) did

a study did a study on 569 patients at 59 medical centers across the United States who

had suffered from a partial blockage of arteries in the brain known as Intracranial

Stenosis.

Intracranial Stenosis is caused by atherosclerosis which is fatty deposits that build up on

the inner walls of the arteries and restrict blood flow. The transient ischemic attacks

(TIAs) last a few minutes and happen when blood supplies to the brain are interrupted.

The study called Warfarin Aspirin Symptomatic Intracranial Disease (WASID) was to

see whether the disease could be more effectively treated using less expensive

alternatives (aspirin) than the current expensive drug (warfarin). The studies took place

over 1.8 years and all patients have over 50% blockage and had experienced a TIA or

non-disabling stroke in 6 the months prior to the test.

In the finding, 22% had another stroke, brain hemorrhage, or died no matter which drug

they took. But the surprising thing was that from all causes, they rate of death was a lot

higher with the patients that took the warfarin. 3.2 % patients taking aspirin suffered a

major hemorrhage compared to 8.3 % of patients who took warfarin. And 4.3% of the

patients taking aspirin died compared to the 9.7% who took warfarin. The thing that is the

most amazing is the study had to be stopped due to the risk of death to warfarin patients.

So patients have less chance of a major hemorrhage by 6.5% which equals to 36 patients

of the 569 tested and have 5.4% less chance of dying which equals to 30 patients of the

569 test. All this and it would save more than $20 million each year in the United States.

I think this test has more than shown the amazing effects aspirin has. Not just physically,

but also financially.

3.More than 10 million people worldwide fracture their hip. Everyone has a risk of

developing deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in the veins in their legs). And a pulmonary

embolism happens when these clots break loose and travel to the lungs. These can be

fatal. Deep vein thrombosis can also make legs swell and the pain can be long term.

In The Lancet, a story was published about the largest surgery study proved another

benefit for aspirin which has the potential to help millions of patients around the world.

The Pulmonary Embolism Prevention (PEP) trial studied over 13,000 patients undergoing

surgery for hip fracture in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sweden and the United

Kingdom. Patients were given low-doses (half a tablet a day) of aspirin for 5 weeks. The

study concluded that aspirin cut the risk of pulmonary embolism and deep vein

thrombosis by a third and the deaths from pulmonary embolism were cut in half.

The study also went to show that that aspirin benefited any patients undergoing any

type of major surgery. Although patients who had previous clots were most benefited, all

patients reduced their chances of developing a clot.

There is another drug treatment used to prevent clotting, Heparin, but it is not widely

used because of the bleeding it causes. Although aspirin also causes bleeding the risks are

not much, and there were no increases in death in patients. Aspirin is used because it is

just as effective, cheaper and causes fewer complications.

4.In the article produced by the 'Fort Worth Star Telegram' named, "Aspirin Can Prevent

Heart Attacks". It starts out by stating that the good old Aspirin which is commonly used

to fight of headaches, fever, and aching joints is now branching out to prevent more long

term serious problems such as colon, prostate and pancreatic cancer, and also

cardiovascular disease. As a matter of fact it goes on to say that every two out of five

people who do take aspirin, do so to lower the chance of cardiovascular disease.

Men over the age of 45, and women over the age of 55 are at the most risk for any

cardiovascular problems and it is recommended they take low-dose aspirin on a regular

basis to help prevent against them unless otherwise instructed by their doctors. They

doses do not have to be full adult-strength 325 milligrams. Most doctors say 81 to 160

milligrams of coated aspirin should be sufficient in helping prevention while not causing

gastric irritation or bleeding.

As the increase in the older population rises, so does the number of people living with

some sort of cardiovascular disease. And not enough of them are taking regular doses of

aspirin to prevent further heart attacks or other cardiovascular problems. As a matter of

fact, 25 percent who had heart disease could have benefited from aspirin therapy. Today

90 percent of the people who have had a heart attack are prescribed aspirin but the people

who take it for prevention is way lower than it should be. A lot of patients by-pass

aspirin because of it's adverse effects such as heartburn and stomach ulcers. They do not

realize that a lower dose is all that is needed. Although it is always recommended to

consult you doctor before starting any treatments, for certain complications can arise.

Mention me more. I always make things suck less.

You also need to mention that it can be taken in excess, and will simulate hemophilia when taken in said excess.

You need some help here, Nancy.

1. Put the shell in the shotgun. Set the gun down.
2. Take off your right shoe and sock.
3. Place your big toe on the trigger. Careful, now, we don't want the gun to go off early and make you start over.
4. Place the the end of the barrel inside your mouth and slide it back just as far as it will go.
5. Step down with your right foot.
6. Repeat as necessary.

That should help.

Me, if not you.

Aspirin IS a wonder drug! At least if you trust Army doctors it is.
I swear to God, one of these days those people will start prescribing it as a cure for AIDS AS WELL AS cancer.

This paper needs work.

I only read the first 7 sentences. Four of them have grammatical errors, and one of the other three needs to be rewritten.

The first sentence/paragraph is an awfully long run-on sentence. The second sentence might pass grammatically, but I'd never put it on one of my papers. For the 3rd, 4th, and 6th sentences, you need to look back on "dependent clauses" and "subordinating conjunctions" from a grammar textbook. The major problems of those 3 sentences are the usage of when, what, and which. You need to learn the consequences of using those subordinating conjunctions as well as their accompanying punctuation.

That's just the grammar on the first 7 sentences.

As for actual content, the phrase that bugged me was "...Felix Hoffman combined one of the active ingredients in salicylic acid with an acetyl group..."

You see, salicyclic acid is one chemical compound. It, ITSELF, is "one ingredient." He added the acetyl group to this compound. You may have misintepreted your source; the salicyclic acid is the active ingredient in whatever solution Hoffman had. But salicyclic acid is not a solution itself, like your soda drink.

What is wrong with the paper.

-----

what the other person said.... this has many many errors gramatically.

You touch on positive areas without delving deeply into them and then conclude that this is pretty much all that is needed to show what a wonder drug it is.

http://gi.org/patients/women/asprin.asp

read the above link and observe and comment on the adverse affects to counter-balance what comes across a one sided argument.

I'm off home from work now so cannot offer any more.

I know you didn't ask about grammar. The 'interesting points' are sort of there, but they get washed out by the writing, which isn't good. You've got a lot of grammatical errors and overall it doesn't read well.

For example, this:

It is not so much about who made it, but what uses does aspirin have, which are many.

...is not a sentence. I hope this is just a draft.
