We need some hip-hop lovin' up in this mofo today.
Hence, here's a hip-hop song I wrote and recorded a few years back...no, it's not about Bob Evans...it was a project I did with the kids I was counseling at the "Youth Farm" residential treatment facility.
As you will discern, we had a blast.
And if you don't like it, well tough nuts. At least no one's around this week on Uber so it's safe to post this kind of shite.
------------------------------
You know we all wind up in here somehow without a trace
The man, he cuffed me, booked me, took me to a foreign place
No time to say goodbye, I love you to my family
Just spinnin' 'round, trying to get down wit' everybody starin' at me
The casin', jappin', rappin', chasin', it's hard to take it in
Ain't got no girls, cars, or money, where do I begin?
I'm gettin' treated, almost beated, but I still hang tough
Won't go nowhere until I've given them more than enough
You see I'm down, down on the farm
It sure ain't home but at least nobody here can do me harm
Just take some time to rest and think it out
Ain't gonna leave until I find out what it's all about
Yo, what the hell is he doin'? I get so tired of him screwin' around
If he passes gas just one time, gonna knock him on the ground
I'm trying to do my best, do what my peers and staff ask of me
But I might just snap and go AWOL or AFG
Life in Shadid is hard, nobody's playin' my card
'Cept maybe God or Jill or Mrs. Hemmele, it's so hard
To imagine life outside Shadid and forget the stuff my dad did
Peace and love to ya mom and sis, all of you I miss
Whoa, on the farm, down on Youth Farm
I get so lonely, lose my charm
But I know it's where I need to be
My only chance to be set free

I'm not sure if this qualifies as 'hip-hop' maybe R&B, not hip-hop though.
--------------------------------
I've never thought that there was much difference between the two...although I'll admit I'm not intimately familiar with the style, as most of my music collection is rock/blues oriented. What's the key differences between R&B and hip-hop? I'd love to know.

I'm much more into classic rock, but from what I've been forced to endure while working out Hip-Hop is defined more by the speed of the beat and vocals, where as R&B might be sung quickly, but normally will have a slower chorus and/or beat. $10 says I'm wrong, any takers?

Rather, don't drink and drive if you can't do it without getting caught, I mean.
Or can hold your liquor really really well.
