The guy had $750,000 in cash on his person, and untold millions in various bank accounts, and he decided to count on tribal loyalty to see him through and bring him back to power instead of high-tailing it to some tropical pacific island with a facelift.

I couldn't give a shit about his death per se. It is the reason he died that makes me sad. If he had been poisoned by some pissed off Iraqi, I believe everyone would cheer. But fact is that he died because Bush decided to settle his little family feud and please his buddies at the same time.
When you brush away all the bullshit about WMDs, 9/11, liberation and democracy (or whatever new justification is in fashion now), it is about two assholes comparing cock sizes. The boys play their games, one lost, and commoners on both sides are fucked raw.

i don't know what Erik Estrada has to do with anything, but i liked this post.
i don't think Saddam was such a bad guy. in fact, i think he was a hardcore pimp. he had the balls to tell Bush to go fuck himself when it was obvious it would be the end of him. when i was in Baghdad i remember hearing about two guy that gaurded him that said he was a really nice guy and they liked him a lot.
oh well. the common man knows only propaganda and is unable to make a distinction between Saddam killing Iraqis and a coalition army killing Iraqis. the Iraqis i asked about Saddam, whether they liked him or not, told me life for them will be the same with or without him. oh, except the part about the constant bloodshed and not knowing if they are going to die in a bomb blast on any given day...
