"The worst ones are the fundamentalist preachers. Con-men telling the poor suckers who watch them that they are speaking for Jesus."
- Woody Allen,
"Hannah and Her Sisters"

I was watching this movie earlier (and i recommend it to those interested) and when this line was thrown out i achieved an epiphanic thought. Let me start from the beginning...

So i'm enjoying the film and there are more than a few other lines that really hit me, but this one intiated a stream of thought. I think it happened because i missed half of the dialogue. So i lift my head and immediately press rewind, because the line triggered something to me that struck gold.

Cha Ching - EPIPHANY - That's exactly the sentiment which dictates our existence today as a global populace - this is world politics - EPIPHANY. With the USA government (closely tailed by their British lapdogs amongst others: our "world leaders") at centre stage and telling us that every act of atrocity that is committed on "our" behalf, every atrocity committed on "their" behalf, every moral that "every single body in the whole wide world" should adhere to, the reason we should breathe each day...is on behalf of Jesus/God/Mohammed/Allah/Buddha/Vishnu/Jehovah/Krishna/Elijah/Moses/Zeus..................But hang the fuck on a minute........................

Now don't get me wrong, i have my own brand of religion, i believe in the Jedi - kidding - but seriously i have my own way of doing things, and i admire actual human beings such as Jesus, Mohammed etc. and the POSITIVE effects on human existence that have...lets face it...paid off. And God/Allah/Zeus etc too. They all have their plus sides, for each of us to appreciate or not as we choose. So lets bring this to a close before it gets boring...What i'm getting at is...religion is cool if it's for you, and cool for you if it's not. Let each individual make their own decision accordingly. And for f*"!s sake: would the politicians stop declaring jihad: on behalf of the people: on behalf of Jesus...only the fat cats in office want it, so lets say it how it is. If, as a westerner, you want to go to war with any random eastern country (or vice versa)for whatever money/oil/personally insulting reason, then go ahead, but PLEASE don't do it on my behalf (or Jesus' or Mohammed's for that matter too).

All the very best and happy new year to all non-politicians xxx

Must apologise as have just checked what i posted last night in a green stupor and realised i actually missed the point of my epiphany by going off on random tangents...which was that the movie was made in 1986...hello george bush snr...and given that i was only 2 years old at the time and am still exploring the nooks and crevices of 80's culture so am not yet fully aware of all of its significances - i have as of yet failed to notice the gravity of the déja vu global politics is experiencing today under his beloved son (did know it was there but for some reason never really pursued the thought)...i know its not highly original but under the influence this did seem to be a magical and unique realisation sent to me by some mystical force...one more thing for the person who suggested i believe in a higher being, read again, this time pay attention because i was generalising at that point and not stating my own beliefs...just merely saying i had them and these could be options for anybody.

So you don't subscribe to any organized religion, but you believe in a higher power than Man. Wow, are you unique. I find it absolutely astounding that no one has thought of that before you did. It's so intricate in it's simplicity, so readily apparent in it's complexity. Dang, you're good.

This rant has been done 100 times already, but rarely has it been written from a vagina. So, you get a mitigating point.

You obviously know where your shit key is, so why do you choose to ignore it for the letter i?

-------------------

I think you'll find, the 'shit' key was used for most of this post. 'i's included.

In any event, this failed to hold my attention after the Woody Allen quote.

Kirk: What makes you guys so special?

Homer: Because Marge and I have one thing that can never be broken: a
strong marriage built on a solid foundation of routine.
