Me and my band finally ponied up the cash and bought all the recording equipment we could ever need, and we've been in the midst of writing and recording new ideas and songs. We have moved closer to the Godsmack and Tool area of writing, but just for kicks, we wrote a song reminiscent of Iron Maiden, and a little Rush. I've recieved a few positive comments before, and thought I'd post it for some reviews. So without further introduction: The Alamo.

I am going to go ahead and give this a +2 but your high notes just weren't hitting it.

Um, it's not that I don't appreciate this, decent as it is, but it was done 20 years ago. Unless you're going to improve on Maiden, which I doubt, go in a different direction.

Since i'm browsing the "music'-department on Uber lately , i came across your creation .
Point to be taken in consideration : I've been listening on my $2 headphones so i'll won't bother on quality , Just like to mention the fact , that i found myself flashbacking into the old maiden-days ...Nice stuff ! Maybe get some heads together , and release an Uber-trax compilation ?
Could be worthwhile ...

nicely done. clean recording. when you guys say you ponied up, you seriously ponied up.
rhythm was tight and the layers were synced well, which says either you've recorded a lot/before, spent forever recording this song, or have played together/this song long enough to have it perfect. (maybe some combination of the above.) either way, nice.
as for the song itself, i liked the drive. at first listen it sounded like you said "yesterday" instead of "yes, today" in the chorus, though that might just be me. i didn't notice any bass EQ problems; however, take that with a grain of salt because I'm currently listening on a laptop (that also means that any background noise/recording static there might have been I also probably wouldn't have caught.) Your lead is pretty good, to put it lightly, and the solo was spot on. as for the suggestion of extending it, I wouldn't take it too much further simply because any more than 30 seconds and you'll have more guitar solo than you will words. (which can be fine, but as a matter of preference, I would find a third verse before I'd find a lengthier solo.) the vocals were also good, which is unusual for a rock band, so i'm impressed. to be honest though, the whole song really kinda reminded me of some of the heavier stuff in the movie "Rent." (not that that's a bad thing.)
overall, i'd pay a couple dollars to see you play.

First off...auto Uber-musician +2. Glad to see another one on here!
Now on to the music review...the recording is very clean, not a hint of extraneous noise in the tracks. Digital system, I presume?
All of the instruments had a great sound to them, and the parts were tight. Sounds like you guys have been together for a while...or at least have done this song enough times together not to miss a beat. My only complaint is that the mixdown was very bass heavy, at times overpowering the vocals...which I don't say often considering that I'm a bass player myself and nearly always have the bass EQ up on my stereo. :)
Iron Maiden/Rush influenced? I can hear the Iron Maiden in there, all right...but Rush? It's a little too straight forward of an alt rock tune to be classified with Geddy's songs, in my humble opinion...but nevertheless, I enjoyed "Alamo", and was left wanting for more...maybe an extended guitar solo for a future take?
All in all, nice job, and keep 'em coming.
