I watch the lone doorway in the darkness.
It shrinks and bends,
and distorts to the will of the world.
It watches and listens,
for its eyes and ears are one with the reality.
It changes.
It brightens and glows,
grows and falters,
and finally disappears into a puff of nothing,
with no trace.
But me,
on the other side.
And through the darkness, and the light,
I wish for the day that once was,
or the future that will be.
I watch the close circle of light tighten and expand,
showing me the world,
hinting at what could be,
reminding me what is.
And I wait and watch,
and imagine all the doors hiding from my tight light,
all the doors I passed,
the ones that were there and gone,
the ones that are and the ones that aren't.

Excuse me. I say that because most of the assholes on this site -2 all poetry without even giving it a fair shake- I thought it was good. If you want to read some other stuff, Spikegoddess is fairly clever with poetry as well.
