She closed her eyes to feel the gale pounding against her eyelids. She preferred stormy weather to the calm of a perfect summer's day. There was something about the passion of a storm, as though it tapped into the emotion being felt by each and every person in the world and released it all in a frenzied gust onto the planet. Lashing out at the trees, the telegraph poles, whipping the sea into a fury, ripping the delicate heads from a rose bush. She flew through the storm, with only 14 hours left to fly she felt she shouldn't stop until she had to.
She looked behind her to check the others were still with her, they were all in attendance. Even though the weather was so foul she didn't feel cold. Her mother had joined them on the trip, and the warmth of her spirit was protecting their tender skin from the elements as they soared to great heights eyeing the landscape below them.
As the storm passed the five hovered in the air, watching the ocean calm and the angry vapor of the storm clouds dissipate into the atmosphere. She comments to the others on the surreal nature of their experience. She hugged her mother, pleased to know she was still with them.
Moments later, she unaccountably began to nosedive back toward earth, like an eagle who had spotted his pray and was swooping in for the kill. The wind that rushed over her face and through her hair felt exhilarating. She smoothly landed on a pebbled beach surrounded by pine forests, she didn't know exactly why she was there but felt that she was in the right place nonetheless. One by one, Hayley, Julia and Tom landed beside her, all with adrenaline flushed cheeks. And of course Sue was there before she had even arrived herself.
As she began to lead the group down the beach, it felt as though the nimble spirit of Peter Pan had invaded her feet as she danced lightly across the rocky landscape. It soon became clear that this was no ordinary land. The pine trees were not their usual emerald green, but sparkled like a sapphire under starlight. The rocks were tinged with fire but cool to the touch, the water that lapped the gentle shores reflected ruby light back into the atmosphere, and the sun shone down a silvery moon-like light from its mid-day position.
She soon realised that despite the unfamiliar colouring of the landscape, the surroundings were startlingly similar to that of her hometown in Croatia. But an instinct told her this was some kind of parallel land, and things were not as usual.
As the group rounded the corner, a majestic sight appeared before their eyes. Sue was smiling and regarding the vision with a fondness that only somebody who was familiar with the scene would.
As they approached the sight they noted the rainbow lights which danced over the centuries old stone buildings as if by magic, giving what was becoming apparent as a town, a fairground quality. She realised, by watching Sue that this was where her mother's spirit had come to rest in the afterlife.
She led the group with Sue by her side, as they began to wonder through the winding and seemingly endless cobbled streets. The paths were narrow and shadowed by the rainbow lit buildings and led them to an enclosure, that was grass woven with white gold, emerald headed rose bushes and protected by the Sapphire pine trees.
She lay down on the grass, which felt to her body like soft downy feathers, nestling around her contours. She closed her eyes and dreamt of a place that was grey monotone, cold and rainy and wished that she was back in the fairground town.
As she slowly awoke her ears were met by an eerie silence, that settled on her soul like a fog. All was not right. As she rose up she was alone in the enclosure. She scanned the bright and colourful corral for her companions, but none were there, and the presence that lacked the most, was that of Sue. Panic rose through her body as the emptiness inside her grew, taking over her mind, she could think of nothing except finding her mother.
She raced through the entrance to the Garden of Eden and back to the meandering streets her eyes searching maniacally, her soul parched, for the ghost who had made everything warm and right.

I dunno. This reminded me of Men in Black 2, you know? Where you've got Men in Black 1 with the cockroach and the "don't blinky-thing me?" And then Men in Black 2 with the dog singing old Temptations songs, and the giant slug in the subway is chasing Will Smith, and then the black chick goes "Lots of people cry when it rains," and Tommy Lee Jones puts an arm on her shoulder and is all, "Princess, it's your crying that makes it rain."
Seriously, that scene choked me up just a bit.

I didn't read it.
Romance needs at least a little rape.
Anyone seen "rollin' with the nines" aweful title, hammy UK acting, but a super awesome overly brutal rape scene.
