I never knew a lungfish was an actual thing until recently while studying for the GMAT it came up in one of those "short passages" you have to read for the verbal part. I thought it was just some weirdass name like most people have on here. I'm not sure but I think that makes it cooler that it sounds like something weird and made up but is actual a real thing not many people know about. True story.

Fuck it. I hadn't seen these, and I enjoyed them. Plus, I like everybody, except for those zombies that were chasing me today. No that's not true. The zombie part is, but I don't like everybody. I do tend to rate posts pretty highly though, unless it has man-boobs in it. I hate man-boobs, and penes. Except for my penis. I love my penis. A lot. Too much sometimes, er...often, I guess. No I think you misunderstand.
First, I purposely hand out lots of zeros because that's what I see fit. A zero may sound insulting just by it's nature but it wasn't me that decided a zero equates to "worth reading." If I gave a zero that's just what I thought.
Wasn't necesserily drawing a conclusion about your habbits. I hadn't yet looked at the distribution of your ratings but I was simply saying that a person that finds everything "GREAT" all the time probably doesn't have very high standards or sophisticated tastes. I was infering that you were saying I don't give out enough "good" ratings. What I was trying to say was that I shouldn't and neither should anyone else. The world is full of mediocre, good is the awesome stuff that stands out in stark contrast to the mediocre and "bad" that's found in great abundance everywhere and in everything.
I noticed that your rating distribution looks similar to me. You have a slight slant toward the positive and I have a slight slant toward the negative but all and all it's similar. You have 410 people rated over 0 average, 101 rated 0 average and 324.
I'm curious which posters you think are tops that I trashed. Alot of the writers I think are phenomal, everything from engaging original stories with believable well-defined characters to just good form grammatically and spelling wise get mediocre ratings or even trashed. If I see something I like I give it a good rating whether or not I think every other thing they ever did sucks or whether they trashed me arbitrarily. I don't care, I like to see good original stuff that's interesting or funny to read.

My favorite posts on Uber are also the short fiction, so we have something in common. I notice that some of my favorite writers have been mostly negatively rated by you, so perhaps our taste is very different. But judging my ratings by a few random +2s I've given isn't any more accurate than what you accuse me of. And drawing a conclusion about my diet, choice of music or TV viewing habits is just plain ridiculous. For the record, I'm kind of a rock snob and I'm not fond of McDonald's.

Yea the thing is they don't post "quality" - if all of that shit you're refering that's "quality" McDonald's is "quality" food.

First of all of the five perfect ratings I quoted ONE was a bandwagon as you call it - and so what. That was what was displayed on the front page at the time - there are 10's of other examples.
You're biasing things again. I given 87 people an average rating over 0. 30 people an average of 0 - which should be noted is titled "worth reading." That totals 117 that I have said essentially "I like that enough to recommend that someone read it" with varying degrees of enthusiasm. I've rated 137 an average of less than 0 which according to site designer equates to "I've seen better" and falls off rapidly from there. Slightly more than I've praised true. But guess what, the world in general has alot more shitty stuff in it than good stuff. Most things that are mainstream and available in massive quantities or to the masses are garbage, complete and total garbage. If you disagree with that statement you are probably the type of person that reads tabloids, believes the mainstream media is totally unbiased, eats McDonalds and listens to whatever is on MTV and considers those people to be some of the best muscians in the world. In short, it's lame.

The truth in the ubersite ratings system is revealed. Anyone that gives a bad rating to anyone for any reason will receive the same abitrarily regardless of content... Good deal.
You guys blow, you are in a gay little club where you rate each other well all the time for everything you post whether it sucks or not. You throw tantrums when anyone throws a wrench in that process. End of story.
Anything that meets the following criteria gets consistant praise from me:
1.) Coherent and readable.
2.) Is in some way entertaining, original or thought-provoking or some combination thereof.
3.) Does not express opinion or thought that is completely retarded or statement of fact that is incorrect logically or factually.
Simple.

i didnt get the forward, thought some of them were pretty cool.
when i went to pisa, i took a picture of the people taking pictures of themselves holding up the tower. its way cooler than that guy trying to balance. and its funnier, cause there are three pairs of people setting up the pic... and all of them are asian.
