"The thought police would get him just the same. He had committedwould have committed, even if he had never set pen to paperthe essential crime that contained all others in itself. Thoughtcrime, they called it. Thoughtcrime was not a thing that could be concealed forever. You might dodge successfully for a while, even for years, but sooner or later they were bound to get you." -1984
Take a look at the latest bill being reviewed by our Congress. I am refering to US Senate Bill 1 (S.1)...more specifically section 220. A "legislative transparency and accountability act" with some rather nasty provisions for grassroot movements. The lobbying reform bill would require grassroot organizations, even political bloggers, who communicate to 500 or more members of the public, to register and report quarterly to Congress.
How much you want to bet this bill gets passed in record time?
On January 9, the Senate also passed Amendment 7 to S.1 to create criminal penalties...including six figure fines and up to one year of jail, if someone "fails to report".
Bye, bye first ammendment.
Did I also mention the bill contains HUGE loopholes for major corporations and organizations that use "paid lobbyist" allowing them to spend hundreds of millions without reporting a dime?
Think I am fearmongering or jumping the gun? Look it up yourself. I ain't your bitch.

Here's the thing, douchebag... When you are trying to get people interested in something and/or to take some action the best strategy is to make it as easy as possible for them. If you are going to make a claim support. You obviously care about this issue and wish more people woudl feel like you do because you aren't going to effect any change by yourself. The rest of us don't care - if you're trying to make us care you should be telling believable stories, supporting it with concrete evidence, and making it as easy as possible to do something about it. You fail, crawl back in your hole.

No, here's the thing fuckwit...
It doesnt matter if I provide a link to the bill directly or not. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED in this sort of thing you would take the time to google it and form your own opinions.
IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED in this sort of thing, you will sit here and argue with me about missing links without actually refuting any of the material within, proving how lazy and sheepish you are.
Got it?

Thank god...section 220 was just stripped from the bill.
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=1&vote=00017
Believe it or not...all 48 Republicans, as well as 7 Democrats, voted against requiring bloggers to register. All 43 votes in favor of keeping the registration provision were by Democrats.
Go fucking figure. I dont affiliate myself with either party, but for the jackasses that think Democrats are somehow better than Republicans, this should be a wake up call.

Post a direct link to the actual text of the bill instead of some alarmist grassroots website and I will. I don't feel like doing the research because even if the bill says what you claim, "unlikely," it definitely won't pass...

Yep, go ahead and dismiss it without any research of your own. You know, "cause it's like totally unlikely dude".

so fucking blow everything up already then

And what would that accomplish other than giving this administration another excuse to destroy the bill of rights? If I had my way, I would just raise gas prices up to $15 a gallon. That would wake up more Americans than any bomb could.
