I don't know but those ring regulars are a crazy bunch. The Ringmini dude has a whole bunch of bizarre mini's. If it has metal on top, rubber on the bottom and moves fast you will find it at the ring.

1.) RUF has manufacturer status in Germany which means they get their own VINs, meaning if you put it in a car fax report or something like that it will identify as a RUF not a Porsche. RUF buys the bare chasis from Porsche and builds them up from there. I agree they seem like a tuner but technically they are a manufacturer or so says the German government, unlike Techart, Gemballa, AMG, etc. I toured the factory and it's about the size of a a large firestone tire center or something like. Very small.
2.) The track was there before WWII, maybe they repaved it with jew ashes but there is no way the track is built on top of it. =)
3.) The Ringmini dude (www.ringmini.de) took a GSX 1000 motor and put it on a gokart and then took that to the ring. The tires lasted all of two minutes. There used to be a video on his site but I think they took it down.
I had no idea this would be so popular. I wish I'd found the rest of my pictures, had some better ones of an actual race going on... Oh well maybe part 2 if I ever find them.

The chick did not set the fastest lap and t wasn't in a sierra sapphire cosworth it was in a highly modified Porsche. It was set by a guy Stefan Bellof , it was done a long
time ago and the record is 6:11. Motorcycle record is is 7.49.
The RUF is not a 959 the body kit makes it look like that, it's 911 turbo based.
I'm not touring Europe now but have done several times before. Since everybody likes this so much I will continue to
post about interesting points of interest until get screamed at because they suck or for being unoriginal.

Yes the chick laps the course in less than ten minutes - I've in fact managed 9.30. She was running about 9 minutes in
the ring taxi (the older V8 model M5) with a full load of people. No idea what she's doing now in the new V10 M5. The
record in an M5 (old) I believe is ~8.30 so 9.00 is pretty impressive when it's loaded up with people who's safety you
are responsible for.
