At dawn I remember the sun on your eyelashes. Day breaks over your face. Strings of gold, arching from your eyes as they fluttered open, mouth throwing a sigh out into a cold morning. Amber moved in your irises. A shiver and a sharp gasp as your toes reach past the blanket's confinement and stretched into my memory.

There is a 10am white sun on a winter day. Gray ocean and staring at the beach in front of us. I put my hand in yours to warm myself. Shoes discarded later for toes in frozen sand, neither of us made it too far in the cold. You traced strange shapes in the sand with a piece of driftwood. Broken shells were shining in the water. I forget the name of the place.

October at lunchtime, you pulled at my coat in the rain. There was a hand in my hair, the back of my head, the nape of my neck, the small of my back. Then an arm around my shoulders trying to hide me from the wet chill. We went home and fucked in the hallway, pulling off damp things to put wet lips together. Beads of rain and sweat making outlines around the goosebumps on your thighs.

Late afternoon with you sat on the porch at the iron table. Green leaves making a halo of summer around you. The iced tea didn't have enough lemon. You squeezed another slice into your cup, licking your fingers when you were done. Then you bit the lemon. I remember the face you made. Lemon juice running from between your lips, pursing them together from the sour. Sucking your teeth to get the bitter taste from your mouth but relishing the sting. You spit the seed at me.

The sun went down and you stepped out of the shower, hot mist pouring into the bedroom. Some flower's scent followed your footsteps across the carpet. I didn't care. I buried my face in you instead. A thousand perfumes in your garden. I took my thumb and and streaked the droplets across your damp skin. You left before I could draw circles around your belly button.

I dropped a wineglass before dinner. There was a curse. You walked in, not realizing, and cut your heel on a shard. I held a towel to your foot. Glances between your parted legs, a silk skirt getting wrinkled from gathering around knees, these were things ignored for the blood on the floor. The heat of the day stuck to us and the fan turned your skirt into a sea of movement.

I can't remember the whole first night. There were stars above your head, but maybe Christmas lights. We pulled the blue sheet over our head for the pinpricks of light. I loved you then. Warm breath made my hair stand. You passed out with your hand in my pocket and left me curling around you feeling the hangover coming.

In the dead hours of yesterday's night I lay staring at my hand around yours. Points of knuckles making mountains and valleys in blue light. Tomorrow I remember you.

I'd very much like to think that this was about lesbians drinking lemonade. There's something very beautiful (and alliterative) about that.

It got stuck on this line "You left before I could draw circles around your belly button.", I'm not smart enough to explain why I think so.

I don't get this. I don't get any of this.

Y'know something? I think I've grown too old for the land of Narnia.

Take it back Berty. They don't let you back in if you don't believe.

Always remember that Aslan loves you!

"You spit the seed at me."

hah. Spit or swallow Noonie?

Rock 'n' Roll had become stagnant. `Achy Breaky Heart' was seven years
away. Something had to fill the void, and that something was barbershop.
