It seems that the media has gone to the old standby in these times of slow news. Another white woman is in trouble, and the news agencies pounce like a lioness to a wounded gazelle. Only this time, the white woman is the cause of her troubles.
Missing White Woman Syndrome (also known as Damsel in Distress Syndrome) is when a white, usually petite and good looking, white woman is in some peril. Jon Benet Ramsey was a nobody; but the media made her a star. Same goes for Natalie Holloway, Laci Peterson, Lori Hacking, and so on.
The problem is, Americans make these woman the most important people on the planet. Well, until something better, like a war, comes along.
The "Run Away Bride"? Some bitch doesn't want to get married and gets movie deals.
Holloway? Some teenager does what she shouldn't and disappears. Nancy grace is STILL reporting about this shit. Holland even used FIGHTER JETS to help in the "search effort".
Now, Lisa Nowak goes completely insane and this is all the media cares about.
Sure, there are people dieing in the winter storm that hit the country. The Isreali-Lebanon border seems to be unstable. There was a guy who killed his girlfriend in New York (who was white, so look out for this one). There are even state sthat are trying to keep teachers to help our children have better futures.
Forget that, though. Some loony bitch attacked a love-interest's friend. NATIONAL NEWS! 24-7!
Blame NASA! She wore diapers?!? This is real news.
I wonder when the last black/Hispanic/Asian/non-white, ugly, poor woman was killed?

As for Hilary... The is the single biggest corporate shill in te '08 elections so far BAR NONE! This includes even Giuliani and McCain who, while serving different immediate masters, serve the same ones at length.
None of these people are going to get us out of the mess we're in right now. Not Barak Obama, not Bill Richardson, and certainly not the same tired puppets we've had running the country for decades.
The only exception might be Ron Paul. I'd be more willing to give him a crack at the White House than 100 Hilarys, but because he's a man with the correct diagnosis of our problems - the kind that I think John Adams said would have to be dragged into a position of power kicking and screaming - he will not have the money or the key corporate media support of the other candidates. He will be smeared and/or ignored from the scene.
I watched the Iowa Democratic Caucus debates in '04 and there is NO DOUBT that the two men who knew what the hell they were talking about were Dennis Kucinich (sp?) and, believe it or not, Al Sharpton.
Kerry was an obvious shill, so was Dean... They wore masks as thick as a prison wall. But of course, you never even HEARD much about Kucinich or Sharpton being serious contenders. There is a very real reason for that. There is a reason that not all candidates are created equal in te eyes of the media. There is a reason they treat elections and primaries as forgone conclusions. There is a reason they bombard your mind every day with pundits spewing the same ol' rehashed policy theories, politics, and rhetoric.
In this day and age, the mainstream media is the oracle, the gateway, the keeper of power. He who controls this oracle, he who floods its all-seeing eye with whatever images he chooses to present is king. He will ultimately control the fine-tuning of public perception on any and all issues.
The Nazis used their media in exactly the same way. They wrote about it extensively. The same model is being applied today, but this time in a much more globalist mindset. In this model, agendas are set across oceans and beyond the boundaries of individual companies.
It is illegal in the United States - and for good reason - for any government entity to plant news stories in newspapers and other media operating inside the country, however, it is NOT illegal to plant stories in overseas papers and media. This little loophole allows America governmet entities such as the CIA, DHS, NSA, Secret Service, etc. to plant all the news stories they like overseas in full lawful immunity knowing full well they will make ther way back across the pond with lightning speed and accuracy. We saw this technique used extensively in the months leading up to the war in Iraq. According to an article in Rolling Stone, which has credibility problems of its own being the corporate-funded rag it is, a PR firm was hired by the White House to plant false news stories in Australian and European papers to support the president's Iraqi invasion agenda.
International councils like the CFR, Trilateral Commission, and Bilderberg Group offer anyone within this upper echelon of international affairs to coordinate policies and directives into one homogenous cooperative. It's quid pro quo on an international scale and the ultimate outcome, even if not a conscious objective, will be global domination.
I beseech anyone with a sound mind to investigate what I've said here and think about it carefully. It is real. And with only a moment's perusal of your newspapers with this in mind, you'll understand exactly what I'm talking about.

It's not just white women either... You've forgotten the all-important consideration of class. She has to be upper middle class or above to qualify as a 'news' story.

Lou Dobbs is just now getting around to the NAFTA SuperHighway/North American Union story that Alex Jones has been warning us about for a solid DECADE! Same with 9/11 insider information, coverups, and failures. Same with the Iraq war and the 'remaking' of the middle east.
None of this is 'news'. This is the culmination of HISTORY. It can only be understood in that context - outside the immediate sensationalism of mainstream media.
I can think of no better reason than the one mentioned in this post to forsake the mainstream media once and for all. They are nothing but an ever-churning propaganda machine in service of corporations and the CIA.

I work where a lot of astronauts get flight training. Two of the three people in this love triangle at one time worked in the same building I worked in, so it is a huge story here.
but even if it wasn't a married mother of three driving 900 miles to kidnapp/torture a women because of jealousy is still a good story.

hmmm... what to be done about all this. I don't know how much of the hype is due to commercially sponsored stereotyping which indirectly translates into oppression and "Bell Jarring", but it's worth ponderance... When you HAVE to find news every day stupid stuff becomes news. That's the central problem.

Although choosing to ignore the scandal in a dignified manner doesn't exactly broadcast the message.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to click on a link for a news story about some celebrety scandal or other that seemed vaguely interesting in a very Jerry Springer kind of way and I chose not to. I was proud of myself for taking that stand but in the long run, no one but the non-sentient hit counter on that gossip page I'd chosen to ignore knew that I'd won a moral victory.
