For example, I'm the first to rate a good post, I rate it a +2 and then rate again with a +0, does that then lower the rating of the post?
If I give it a +2 and then another +2 that doesn't do anything, right? But if I give a +2 and then a +1 will they both affect it?
Please, one of you bulbous brained pathetic geek losers explain this to me.

do you just imagine all this shit or what? suddenly calling you a fucking boring dickhead means i'm whining about not being accepted?
----
but that ALL you ever do - you don't write anything entertaining, you cry like a baby all the time because you're not part of an UberClique (well, that and beating up women) - read your own posts tardo, your reputation is set in stone already.

Scum101, one thing that hasn't been said here is this: when a reviewer posts '-2 die!' in their rating, the system weighs their -2 twice as heavily.
It's Uber's way of letting us bend the rules when it's truly needed.

that only works when you are elite, homo.

hey scum go to a users post that has no rating and try out your shit in the real world.
If I deem a post as a 1.5 (e.g not quite a plus 2 but better than a 1)
I'll give it a 2 then a 1 and it will average out to a 1.5...
Go find a user that has a post with no reviews (usually happens when they repost due to a fuck up) and you can see for yourself.

but if i rate a +2 and then a +0 does that lower my average rating? and if i just rate a post a +0 does that have an affect on the posts rating overall?

+1 to make my average rating 0.5 again so that works

0 + -2 + 0.5
1.5/3 = -0.5

Of course, other people rated it in that time, rendering my explanation just that little bit more complex. Do the math though.

Each user's average rating of that post is worked out, then the post's average is worked out by the total of all the users' (that have ranked that post) average rating of it, divided by the number of users that have rated that post.
eg.
Bob rated this +2, -2. I rank it a 1. It won't be 0.33, it will be 0.5 (Bob's average rating of the post was 0, mine was 1, average that out). So to answer your question, yes later ratings of a post by someone who has given it a (different) average previous rating will effect the total on the post, though not as much as a new user's rating would.
