I'm willing to bet this won't be well received here but what the hell, maybe one person will read and appreciate and that's good enough for me.
Liberals are always whining very loudly that the evil conservative republicans are trying to impose their values and morals on everyone else. This is fallacy. While fiscally conservative myself, I pretty much universally despise religion, well except for maybe some of those Asian ones where they just sit around and burn incense and chant - that never hurt anyone right? Anyway conservatives may often have the drawback of often being idiotic Jesus freaks but they're really not trying to force you to become one too. Liberals on the other hand can't wait to decide what they think is right and then force the rest of the population to abide by it.
I was having a conversation earlier with an acquaintance of mine who is a rabid feminist and extreme left winger and she spouted some bullshit that couldn't illustrate the point better.
In case you don't want to read all of her garbage here's her premise: They have slutty women marching around at pro wrestling matches and that objectifies women so that shouldn't be allowed.
I counter: 1.) All participants are willing. 2.) All spectators pay to see this. 3.) They're not doing anything against the law. 4.) The venue is private, nobody that doesn't want to see it well. [*Yes I know sometimes it's held in what could be considered a "public" stadium but it's been rented and it is enclosed and secured. The general public won't be driving down the road and see "offensive dancing girls."]
She's not having it though, because she doesn't like it, it shouldn't be allowed for anybody and by the way there's undertones of telling everyone else how to raise their kids.
This one minor example is just an illustration of the main point - every liberal I know has this mentality and it applies to everything. We know what's best and we want the government to force everyone to do it.
I find liberal publications, radio, television, events, protests, political fund raisers, hell the fact that people like this are even allowed to breathe every bit as offensive as she finds the dancing girls and then some. You won't see me or most any other conservatives campaigning that these things should be banned because they are "offensive" because that would be ridiculous. Although seeking to ban Al Frank [or insert random liberal retard here] from TV [insert venue, broadcast medium, etc. here] is no more ridiculous than the proposition of banning the dancing girls because my misguided friend doesn't like them.
Why this double standard is tolerated and why people aren't smart enough to see right through it I'll never know. When are people going to wake up and smell the coffee? These liberal jackasses, ACLU, etc. aren't giving rights back to the people, they're taking more and more away. Just look at what they've done with their idiotic idea of "political correctness"? Nobody that's a public figure of any kind can speak their mind about anything anymore.

Could you point out what is supposedly so complicated so as to "sail over heads" about your gross exagerration and complete oversimplication of the entirety of politics here? And while you're at it, please note what is so "specific" about using one example of what one person you know believes, and asserting that "every liberal I know has this mentality and it applies to everything"?
And while stating "You won't see me or most any other conservatives campaigning that these things should be banned because they are "offensive" because that would be ridiculous," you seem to conveniently leave out issues like last year's FCC debacle which was a conservative led triumph for censorship, or the president's agenda to ban gay marriage at a time when we are at war. You conveniently insert a disclaimer here of "most other conservatives" so that you can deny any association with the ridiculousness propagated by the far right, however, not only do you refuse liberals in general the same respect, but you quite literally lump every single one of them into one category in your phrasing above.

Actually in a perfect world I would be all about libertarian - I have read the textbook definition of the libertarian philosphy and there is virtually nothing I agree with in it. I am dismayed by both "liberals" and "conservatives" or "democrats" and "republicans" and I don't like any of them. I especially don't like all the religious nonsense. I just often find that the "liberal" platform is even more hypocritical and potentially damaging. I would love to throw them all out and put in someone that operates honestly and true to libertarian principals though - you hit the nail right on the head with that one.
I think it's ironic that liberals are even called liberals and pretend to be for everyone's utmost freedom when really all I see is them trying to coerce everybody to act and think exactly as they say because "they know best."

I agree it's unfortunate that we seem to have inability to have good common sense conservative philosophy without the jesus freak ingredient. Then again it concerns me how liberals attack our jesus freaks and defend muslims.
