If America considers itself the leader in the war against terrorism, then how come in the past 38 years most of the Irish Republican Army's funding came from America?

in a country of 300 millions people with so much money and a large irish population, you're bound to have some support like israel gets from the american jews.

did it really come from the US government, is it private arm sales, is it funding from US catholic groups, irish-american people with money...
"coming from America" is a little vague, sweety.
unless the US government officially funds it, there is no discussion.

Two points, firstly what the fuck is the UVA? The British sent soldiers over to Northern Ireland in order to try and keep the peace and support the RUC whose aim it was to try and maintain law and order in Northern Ireland.
Secondly, as for the Easter Rising. Let me see, it's 1916 and your country in a little squabble you might of heard of, namely World War 1. Your soldiers are dying on the Western Front fighting Germany and Austria and back home there's a rebellion where insurgents are killing civilians and soldiers just trying to get by. What did you honestly expect the government to do? Slap them on the back of the wrist and send them about their way? In drastic times of war, these things are necessary as you cannot fight a war of that scale and have uprising at home.
Oh yeah, and I doubt you've ever been to Londonderry to know anything about it.

Yes, poorly structured question and as Jonny x mentioned what of the British funding?
What I think is funny is no one is scared of Catholics unless you happen to be a UFF, even though Catholics have committed more acts of terrorism than any other group in the last 60 years.
Also when the IRA lets of bombs it was never reported as Irish Catholic terrorists it was simply the IRA, now it always Arabic Islamist Extremists etc.
double standards.
Plus 2 out of sympathy to keep it on the front page
