What is that smell? I've smelled it since I got here. It's just the city, they say. That noise, that buzzing, it's just the city. It's breathing, I can feel it. The air is heavy, and you can feel the weight of the city itself on the ground beneath you feet. My lungs are scummy from the smog. It's just the city, they say. People don't look you in the eye, and when you look up all you see is brick. The sky is blotted out by the thick haze, and when the sun sets everything glows a sickly, unhealthy orange. It's just the city.
