OK, I haven't posted in a few months for a few reasons, namely finding work, starting a new job and applying to law school. This is not to say I haven't been the regular online junky that I've always been, I just haven't had much of a chance to contribute to it.
So this isn't a very long post, but it does involve a link, shown below, to a funny site called "The Porn Talk", which claims to serve as a resource for parents who want to "Brief" their kids over the dangers of internet porn. On the front page tonight, there's an article titled, "Wii have a porn problem", a list of 11 ways kids find porn, which might as well be a how-to, and an opportunity to talk with someone live on how to talk to your kids about internet porn.
I find this site hilarious. It's full of miss-information like lies of anonymity on the internet (guys, if you don't know, unless you're an internet bad-ass, you're not anonymous and if you think you are - despite the fact that you aren't an internet badass - you're going to get in trouble), and strange advice... Seriously... it's really weird. Take this, for instance, found under their "Myths and Lies" section.
"Myth: I look at porn myself. I'll be a hypocrite if I tell my kids not to.
Yes, you are sort of a hypocrite. But that doesn't excuse you from addressing this issue with your kids. It doesn't get you off the hook. Maybe it makes you a little more aware of the issues at hand and the critical importance of talking about porn. Share from your story and personal experience if you think it might help warn your kids." <---------That's the weird part.
OK, kiddies, it's time to talk about dad's stack'o'Husslers! Don't do it, though!
Of course I am in no way advocating that kids should be allowed to look at porn online, but I'm tired of people blaming the products or appealing to shock for a headline, before explaining in the article, almost immediately as the Wii article does, that there are really built-in mechanism for parents.
Anyway, take a look around. It's funny.

What did you type into the search engine to get this, "kids porn"?
------------
It wasn't from a search engine. I found it from an article on Digg.com (http://wii.qj.net/Wii-s-Internet-capability-criticized-by-Christian-group/pg/49/aid/84384)

From the website:
"I told him that the holy spirit talks to me that way all the time and the best thing to do is listen. Many more good things followed from there. The conversation **ROCKED**. We spent an hour hanging out working on a pine block car thing for his boyscout derby. Just goofin off, drilling/sawing/sanding, and talking about porn, love, girls, etc. Keep up the good work!"
That's kinda scary.
