Thank God for the Discovery channel.
Survival shows saved me from starving to death in that forested hell. I knew what plants to eat and how to start fires. I was chasing only the wind and the sun, hoping those would lead me to civilization and ultimately to a confrontation with Mr. Mantree himself.
I should remind you how great nights in the woods are. Even when you're hideously lost and hopeless, the quiet and profound darkness out there is relaxing. Seven nights I didn't sleep much, because I was staring at the stars. The eighth day out there saw me passed out against a giant oak.
I woke up, not very pleased with myself, so I started punching the tree. The blind rage that had driven me forward had its way with my fist, and I ended up with a very injured right hand. Defeated, depressed, and all those other words starting in de-, I stood up and continued on.
Day nine was the day. I found a small town, Geraudeville or something like that, and a pleasant-looking pub.
Some miracle had spawned one dollar in my pocket, and another miracle had made that night one dollar beer night. I drank a pint, slowly and calmly, even though a dozen hicks were eying me with bad intent. I wonder how I smelled...
That night, I slept on the streets. It made me miss the wilderness, but I figured I was back on track.
The next day, I found out how wrong I was.

I have read (and loved) them all.
They are awesome in their simplicity. I am able to read it in a short amount of time which is great while i'm at work, and they are just as entertaining to read the second time through.
Its cool because more than anything else on uber, I picture what the characters look like and I can 'see' their expressions and their setting.
I'm not a good critic, so that might not make sense. Besides, who am I to give out criticizm anyways?
Either way, this series is fucking BOSH.

Keep it as it is; I like this series (now i've actually read one of them). If Jonny here wants more to read, he can go read Brdn_Nkd's Survivor series.
