Heres the link to part one. You've got to read this first or you'll be confused as hell.

On with the story!

***

The sun had just cracked over the horizon when Slim emerged from the motel. His head felt entirely better. His stomach still wasn't settled but he would be fine. He had to consider his next move. He had no other instructions other than to find what he needed to find. Slim was pretty sure that he could check that off the list, but now what? He thought he had two options. The first was to go home and wait for a call back, or drive around and wait for a call. He figured it'd be best to keep moving; after all he did have the head and part of a leg from some unknown woman.

He stuffed his hand into his pocket to pull out his keys. The gray Ford Focus he drove was probably the most non-descript car on the road. Slim wouldn't have any other way. He liked having everything about him subtle. Slim didn't like flashy things. He never bought any of the "bling" he could afford of that sort of garbage. Standing out in a crowd made it harder to hit your mark.

He pushed the unlock button on his key ring and was getting ready to open the door when he saw the glimmer of a reflection on his window. He deliberately dropped his keys and as he bent over to pick them up, he whirled around and drove his fist into the pit of his assailant's stomach.

The air stormed out of the unknown man. He keeled over and fell to the ground. Slim smashed to toe of his boot in the man's face while covering his own to help prevent identification later. Slim opted not to kill the man right then and there. It would be too sloppy, and sloppy wasn't Slim's style.

Slim thought it was odd being mugged outside of an empty motel in the middle of nowhere. He began to be worried that his attacker was hired by someone to take him out. Killing the poor guy assigned to Slim wouldn't be fair, and would only make the person after him angrier.

Slim opened the car door and began to climb in when a feeble, "Wait!" came from the mystery man.
"Yes?" inquired Slim as he pulled the door between them and slid his gun out.

"I'm not going to hurt you, I don't know you. Evonna said you needed this," The mystery man pulled out a white, over stuffed envelope.

"Why thank you," Slim said as he reached for the envelope. "By the way, sorry about beating you like that. I thought you were trying to kill me."

"No problem man," came the response as the man started to regain his strength and picked him self off the ground. The blood was dripping off his chin and had already made a small pool where he once laid. His nose sat awkwardly on his face because Slim's boot had shifted it to the right.

Slim opened the envelope. It contained a thick wad of hundred dollar bills and a note. The note read:

"If you're reading this, congratulations. You didn't pass out in the room like all those before you. There should be 75 g's with this note. If there is a single 100 gone, kill him. He had orders. Dump the girl somewhere along the high way, I don't really need her. Meet me at the diner on Belmont in three days at 3 o'clock. Don't be late Slim, its time to talk real business.
Evonna.

"Wow!" Slim thought. 75 grand far exceeded the price he thought they agreed to. He was excited to see what his new business associate had in store for him. Slim didn't care if the guy slipped a few hundred into his pocket, he'd probably need it for a new nose anyway. For now, Slim was going to go home and get some rest. His next assignment would more than likely be one of his toughest ever.

"Here's the mark," Evonna said coolly while sliding a picture of a middle aged, balding man. This guy fit every stereo-type of a Mafioso you've ever seen on TV. He had a large dome head that the sun in the picture glared off of, all of his facial features seemed enlarged, and it looked like if you flipped him on his side, you could roll him down the street. Slim knew he was important to somebody because he had about 6 guys walking around him looking in all directions.

Evonna and Slim sat in a booth in the back corner of the diner. The place could have changed its name to "Don't Judge a Book by its Cover." The out side looked like it would be just like every other diner in town; a little run down, rude service, mediocre food and full of "regulars" who missed their life doing something else.

Once you crossed the threshold though, the noise of the busy city was left behind and you met the pristine and fresh looking restaurant. The floors glimmered of fresh polish and the smell of French Fries straight out of the cooker caressed your noise.

Slim got there right at three. The lunch rush finished about an hour and a half ago, and the cooks were getting ready for the on-coming dinner rush. They were the only ones at the diner. There was virtually no risk of being over heard and that made Slim a little more comfortable. He had been nervous the whole way to the diner. He knew this was big. Slim surveyed the diner and saw Seven sitting a few booths away. Seven wasn't allowed in on Evonna's business meetings. He was only protection to her. Nothing else.

"His name is Tony Esposito. Better known as The Orphan," Evonna continued.

"The Orphan?! Fuck, I've heard of him. He's a legend. Killing him will start a war with Espositos. They own this town." Slim's mind was racing as he spewed all the information he knew.

"The Boss thinks they were the ones that tipped off the police to our gambling racket we were running out of the Penthouse at the Hilton. The Boss is tired of being number two and he thinks its time to send a message that there is a new player in town."

Evonna was enjoying this. She knew Slim was the best there was. But even the thought of whacking The Orphan made him squirm.

Rivalry between The Boss and The Orphan had been one for the ages. An enforcer from The Boss would get killed, the ensuing rampage would leave dozens in the morgue and city cops with more paper work to fill out than they could handle. Eventually the two men would reach a truce. That never lasted more than a few years. It was all one big system with its up and downs like anything else.

"Do you know why they call him The Orphan?" Evonna inquired.

"I thought no one did." Slim said distractedly. His mind was still swimming with the thought of trying to kill arguably the biggest Mob Boss in America.

"Oh people know. You just have to know the right people. His dad was an abusive alcoholic. One day when he was around twelve, he came home from school and found his dad beating his mom. Tony snapped, got the gun his dad kept in the sock drawer and blew him away. The DA had no case because they couldn't find the murder weapon and the mom, only eye witness, went mute and is still locked up uptown in the institution. Anyway, they put Tony in a foster home, but he didn't like that either and ran away. He lived on the streets forming gangs and whatnot till he got to where he is today. The real American dream. Go from having nothing to getting everything you could want."

After finishing her story, Slim got back to business.

Slim ran through the usual line of questioning, "How do you want it done, when do you want it done, and what's your offer?"

"We want you to leave our mark. I don't care how you actually kill him, so long as our brand is there and everyone in the know knows it was us," she pulled out a piece of metal formed into TB. It honestly looked like a cattle brand. Slim reached out and held it incredulously. Like the story of The Orphan, Slim thought that the brand of The Boss was only the stuff of urban myths.

"The reason we need you is because not only will you have to kill him, but heat up this brand, and brand him with it. He is a heavily protected man. We need the best there is. If you end up taking other people out with him, its just collateral damage to us," with each word Slim sunk with the prospect of how difficult this hit would be.

"I need this done within the month. Our intelligence tells us that they are preparing to take down our money laundering launder mats next month. We need their entire organization shook up before then. Last but not least, we'll give you half a million for it." Evonna sat back to let Slim process everything.

"HALF A MILLION?! THAT'S IT?! If I whack this guy and any finds out it was me, I'll have half of the country trying to kill my ass for the bounty the Espositios would put out! He's got union workers, everyone knows they're insane. Even CEO's of the top companies would be after me the price would be so huge!" Slim was ready to walk out then and just go home. The risk that was involved here was outrageous. He could do 10 low risk hits in that month and make that much money.

"What do you think would be a more appropriate offer?" Evonna said slyly. She knew all along half a mil wouldn't buy Slim for this hit. She was worried he would take it as insult. He wasn't cheap labor, and he knew it.

Slim sat back and thought for a moment. Evonna was willing to negotiate. Slim's style was to start way too high and let them work you down a little bit so they feel like they are getting a good deal. It was really just business school 101.

"Five million and you have a deal," Slim said leveling his eyes with Evonna expecting a backlash.

"Done." Evonna was more than willing to accept that price. The Boss said she could go as high as ten if she couldn't get him to do it.

"Oh, uhh alright then. I'm gonna go home and plan. How can I reach you to tell you I'm done?" Slim was still in shock about the deal he just struck. If he pulled this off he could invest and then retire. He had a deer in headlights look in his eyes. He could see himself swimming in that five million dollars.

"Here's the only phone number I answer. Don't bother calling until you done." And with that Evonna stood up, snapped her fingers at Seven, and was out the door while Slim's jaw was still sitting on the floor.

Good. I don't have much for you in the way of criticism...some grammatical errors but not enough to damage anything. I like the content.
