America is the absolutely best country on earth. I know this for a fact. However, there are days when I doubt myself, when I think, "If I were born and raised in France I would think that it was the greatest nation on earth, so maybe it is just me, maybe it is a matter of perception. Maybe we don't deserve to have military bases all over the world; maybe China has a right to challenge U.S. supremacy. Maybe, just maybe, America has got it wrong."
Then there are days which affirm that America is the greatest nation on earth - Days which tell me that my doubts and fears about my nation are completely wrong, hell, even unfounded. Today was one of those days.
I found out that Fred Dalton Thompson was "seriously considering" running for President of the United States.
For those of you who don't know who he is - he was the former chairman of the Senate Governmental Affairs, he served as minority counsel during Watergate, former Senator from Tennessee (who was elected to fill Gore's vacated post in 1994), he was the ranking member of the Senate from Januar 20th to June 6th 2001, he was also John McCain's national co-chairman in the 2000 primaries (a man he will now be running against), he almost was the Vice President nominee in 2000, the best part is that you can catch him every Friday night on NBC. No, he is not giving his advice on international relations (although he does have a consulting firm which does). Nope, he is on another NBC show. You know him as "Arthur Branch". Yes, we might have a President who was on Law & Order. God bless America
