Well i've been on this site for a good few years now and apart from the unwritten rules eg
1)Never look shlongy in the eye
2)desperatemisanthrope will -2 you for shits and giggles
3)always name drop people like that shit
4)never post pictures drunk, naked and looking like John candy
How does it actually work?
1) If you review your own post does it affect the rating if so is it good manners to respond with a 0?
2) Is it no 2 posts in the same day or no 2 posts on the front page?

1) It doesn't affect the rating, and it's not a matter of politeness - it's just funny when someone tries to +2 their own post so you heap shit on them.
2) It doesn't matter, it's just that if you have a post on the front page when you make a new post, the old one gets knocked off, so sometimes it just gets irritating if someone is posting too much and you can't keep track of what's new and what isn't.

1 You're own ratings don't count. It's customary to rate bullshitposts -2 yourself... otherwise 0 is quite safe, if that's possible on Uber anyway.
