They have a nice Zeiss lenses with 10x optical zoom, very nice macro capabilities. Built in flash or hot shoe. Aux control port for remote triggering. The body pivots relative to the lenses. Only 5MP though. I use them for work, so they take a beating.

I have several old Sony DSC-F717s that will, with the flip of a switch, drop the internal IR/UV screen in the lens and shoot IR/color/UV at standard shutter speeds. With your IR filter on such a camera, no tripod would be needed. They even have built-in IR illumination for close-range shots like this one of my eye https://www.ubersite.com/attachment/97228/0/howmycatseesme.jpg They're about $125 on ebay.<<<<<<

Thanks for the tip. Do they have decent glass on them? How about image quality? the link 404'd
There's a guy out west (US) that only does two or three models of high end dslr cameras and he wouldn't do any Olympus stuff. Strictly cannon and nikon. By the way, I'm loving the "Ken Rockwell" name dropping I've seen here.

Nope. I bought a B&W 720nm filter and a tripod. Even cameras with IR filters will take pictures if you leave tne shutter open long enough. When shooting outside, it has to be a no wind day.

Why does everyone who takes a black and white picture think that they're Ansel Freakin Adams?<<<<<

Well,BOB, if you want the original version, I'll post a great big RED SQUARE up, just for you. I said it was infrared, dumbass. It always has to be converted one way or another.

Do you have a dedicated IR camera, an IR-capable camera, or did you mod/have modded a standard CCD camera?<<<<<<<

Maybe you should email this link to your mom, so she can print it out and hang it on her fridge.

better. I think I'd have gone with a slightly shorter exposure tbh, or at least tweaked the curves a bit.

Yes. It's from about 2007 when I first started IR photography. I now have loads of weird IR stuff now.
I've been into photography for about 12 years and have way too many cameras but I also write from time to time. Nice to hear from you.
